Frequently Asked Questions
Â
What are your wraps made of?Â
Our wraps are made with 100% real nail polish ingredients that is considered to be a pressed polish! No harmful chemicals and they are listed as 10 free meaning free from the most common dangerous or carcinogenic ingredients.
Quality
Our wraps are SGS Certified which means they are produced free of ingredients like formaldehyde, mercury, heavy metals, and DBP. We only carry products that can meet our high standards and that are cruelty free.
Extra Wide Nail Beds
If you have wide nail beds, we have you covered! Our 16 tip Karma Collection and our Luxury Collection have the widest wraps and they fit very well on regular to extra wide nails. Our Weekly Plus collection is the most popular and can be stretched a little to fit if needed.
Application
Our application tab shows a demonstration on how to apply your wraps and every order comes with instructions. Don’t be intimidated if you are a first-time user. It’s easier than you think. Wraps can be applied to natural nails or artificial. A couple tips to help you achieve success whether it’s your first time or 100th time applying:
- Make sure to clean your nails really well with rubbing alcohol before applying. We also recommend wiping off your finger tips as well too so you have no oil transfer when handling the wrap during application.     Â
- Do not apply the wrap to the cuticle or have the wrap touching skin. You are better to have it be a touch smaller than your nail versus too large.
- If you find that traditional nail polish chips badly on you after 2 or 3 days, you may have naturally oily nail beds. In that case, wraps are going to react the same on you because they are real nail polish. We strongly recommend using Orly Bonder in that circumstance. It can be purchased in our store and it’s a rubberized base coat that helps the wraps secure in place and keeps oil away from the wrap. This can greatly extend the life of your wraps up to 14 days.
- Allow wraps to fully set before submerging hands in water or applying your top coat. Put your wraps on right before bed and let them cure down overnight and then top coat when you wake up and you are all set until you are ready to change your wraps to a new set. Vinylux works really well with all the wraps we carry and really extends the life of the wraps to get the maximum wear time. The top coat can be purchased in our store as well.
Top Coats
Not all top coats are created equal. We have personally tested CND Vinylux (we sell this in our store under the nail tools section) and Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat. Several of our customers have also used a product called Beetles and they sell a top coat that has to be cured by a UV lamp. Vinylux and the Miracle Gel require no UV lamp.Â
As with all top coats, you want to allow your wraps to settle to the nail before applying to avoid shrinkage or having a shattered appearance. Some top coats will shrink wraps or the chemistry will not match. You can take a left over piece of wrap and apply the top coat you want to test. If it is not compatible you will be able to tell. You also want to avoid anything that says "quick dry" or "nail dryer". Think of a sponge that is plump with water. When you dry it out quickly the sponge shrinks in size. The same concept applies to anything drying as a top coat, it shrinks the wrap down with it as it dries.Â
Help! My Wraps Shrank!
If you notice your wrap has pulled back from the tip of your nail, there can be quite a few reasons, but don't worry, most are very easy to fix.Â
If you overstretch your wrap towards the tip of your nail during application that can compromise the wraps ability to lay flat and evenly resulting in it pulling back from the tip as it dries.Â
Filing can affect the wrap as well. You want to file at the edge of your nail with your file facing outward and not facing towards the cuticle. Our application video on the home page shows a demonstration with filing. Make sure you are not sawing back and forth as well when filing.Â
Do not tuck the tips of your wraps under the nails. When you clean your nails with rubbing alcohol before the application, there is no way to really get the underside of that nail oil free. You want to press the wrap evenly at the tip then file.Â
Per the manufacturers recommendations, you should not get your wraps wet for a minimum of 3 hours after application. The best time to apply your wraps is right before bed. Let them cure down to the natural nail overnight to ensure a tight bond. Apply top coat in the morning (we strongly urge you to use CND Vinylux) and it will not shrink the wrap as it dries.Â
Sometimes some wraps just do not agree with the chemistry of a person's nail and a specific line doesn't work well for them. That's why we carry so many options. We literally have something for everyone!
Orly Bonder can save the day for many. It's a rubberized base coat that helps nail polish and wraps adhere evenly and increases wear time for most. We carry that as well in the shop.Â
Wrap Removal
Wraps can be removed with any nail polish remover. We recommend Mineral Fusion, a mineral based acetone polish remover. It is not as harsh as a traditional acetone. See our video in our Removal tab for a fast way to remove wraps and ensure no damage will be done to your nails. There can be some residue on the nail after you remove the wrap. That can be cleaned off with the Mineral Fusion, rubbing alcohol, cuticle oil, or simple soap and water.
Toes/Pedicure
We have dedicated toe nail wraps but a lot of our finger nail wraps are wide enough for toes. You use the same application method on your toes as you would your fingers.
