We’ve made it to the ninth instalment of our zodiac monthly series! This blog is all about Taurus, the 2nd astrological sign of the zodiac calendar. If you were born between April 20th and May 20th, this one’s for you. Happy, happy Birthday to all you beautiful bulls out there! Hope you enjoy!

Taurus is one of the oldest constellations to be recognized in the night sky, dating all the way back to the early bronzed age when it marked the Sun’s location during the spring equinox. In Greek mythology, the constellation is associated with Zeus, who transformed himself into a magnificent white bull to get close to Europa, the beautiful daughter of the Phoenician King. Europa soon took notice of the striking bull, she admired his beauty and, when she sat on his back he rose and headed for the sea. Zeus carried her all the way to the island of Crete where he revealed his true identity and lavished the princess with gifts. They eventually had 3 sons together and Zeus later commemorated the bull by placing it among the stars where you can easily spot it just to the west of Orion the hunter.
The symbol for Taurus is the bull. The bull is a symbol of strength, tenacity, and power. When left alone a bull will happily graze; but, I know you’ve all heard the saying “You mess with the bull, you’ll get the horns” Well, that little saying accurately describes a Taurus once they’ve reached their breaking point. A Taurus’s personality is mostly calm and peaceful with an immense patients even in the face of problems or difficulty. However, when their anger is provoked, their temper can be wicked. Bull-headed and stubborn are the stereotypical traits given to our bovine friends but a Taurus has so much more to offer than those less than par descriptions.
Bulls like to keep all four hooves firmly planted on the ground…they are, after all, an earth sign. Earth signs are the most grounded people on the planet…you know, the ones who always keep it 100% real. They are known to be stable and unwavering, so if you find yourself in a Taurus’s friend circle consider yourself lucky because they will be the most loyal friend you have. But not only are they loyal, being rooted in the earth allows a Taurus to grow slowly, steadily, and surely making them one of the lest impulsive signs in the zodiac. A Taurus prefers to observe and respond rather than react.
In classical astrology, Venus was assigned rulership of Taurus. Taurus was thought to be the nocturnal home of Venus, allowing her to harness and materialize all of her earthly gifts and bounties.
