Hello Wrappers!
We made it through the holiday season. I don’t know about all of you but I’m thankful it’s all coming to an end and we will be able to say goodbye to 2021. I can’t deny I’m excited to start fresh in the New Year. However, with the New Year comes the infamous New Year’s resolutions.
Did you know that making New Year resolutions is not a modern tradition? The first New Year’s resolutions date back over 4,000 years ago when the Babylonians are said to have made promises to the gods in hopes they’d earn good favor in the coming year. Now a days, we tend to make them more for personal growth but more than half end up failing within the first couple months.
New Year resolutions tend to fail a majority of the time because of these 3 main reasons:
- It’s too vague and the lack of clarity for the bigger picture can veer you off course.
- It’s made based on what you think someone else wants you to change instead of something you truly want for yourself.
- Your plan of action on achieving your goal is not realistic and become too unattainable over time.
So, are you planning on making a resolution for the new year? 2022 can be the year you accomplish your goal, you just have to pick the right resolution and follow some simple tips on how to attain it.
Be Realistic
As I previously stated, one of the surest ways to fall short is to make your goal unattainable. For example, resolving to never eat your favorite food again is setting yourself up for failure. Instead, you should limit yourself and avoid it more often than you currently do. Perhaps, instead of saying NEVER, you should replace that with CUT BACK ON.
Plan Ahead
Don’t wait until last minute to make that resolution. When waiting until New Year’s Eve your goal will only be based on your mentality for that particular day and your plan of action will be rushed, not thought out. Instead, plan it out before December 31st, and make sure it is truly something you desire to achieve. Then make time to figure out how you will deal with of the temptation of giving up when times get tough.
Talk About It
Do NOT keep your resolution a secret. You should tell friends and family to garner support. A loved one will always want the best for you so, if you have a time of weakness they will surely push you in the right direction. Having a support system to motive you will always improve your chances at success.
Track Your Progress
Keep track of your accomplishments. Each small success is a step in the right direction and will help you see the progress you are making. For instance, say your resolution is to lose 30 pounds, try focusing on losing that first 5 and document it. With each 5 pounds lost celebrate your achievement by doing something that makes you happy. This will motivate you to stay on track.
Don’t Beat Yourself Up
This happens a lot and will cause many people to just give up all together. Try to stop obsessing over the occasional slip because it will not help you achieve your goal. Take it one day at a time and if by chance you give in to temptation all you have to do is start fresh the next day. Experts say it takes nearly a month for a specific activity to become a habit. Your resolution will not happen overnight. Patients with yourself is key.
Reward Yourself
Celebrate your success by treating yourself to something you enjoy. However, make sure this “treat” doesn’t contradict your resolution. Small rewards are a great encouragement to keep you going on the hardest of days. If you are here reading this blog then I know you are a nail wrap fan. Maybe, as a reward for all your hard work, you can gift yourself a new set (or two) of your favorite Karma Nail Wraps. =)
Whatever your plans and goals are for the New Year, I want to wish you the best of luck. I hope these 6 tips can help you achieve your 2022 resolution. I’ll be cheering you on!
Happy New Year and Happy Wrapping!!!
